One Stop Business Portal

The Indiana Secretary of State (SOS) had a vision to create a one-stop state government solution for all businesses in Indiana, and Direct Path helped make that a reality. 

Initially, Direct Path was engaged to complete an Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) engagement for a program that struggled for years.  In short order our team was able to provide specific feedback and recommendations to course correct this strategic effort for SOS.  Today, Direct Path leads one of the most successful inter-agency initiatives within the State of Indiana, now known as INBiz.  Our team serves as the INBiz Project Management Office (PMO), and in this role we lead or help facilitate all governance, planning, software development, technology integration, marketing, communications and customer support activities. 

Enterprise Re-branding

In 2006 Clarian Health decided to undertake a statewide re-branding effort and transition to the new name of Indiana University Health (IU Health).  While IU Health handled all creative and marketing aspects of the change, Direct Path was selected to lead and manage all implementation activities.  

Our team quickly established a fixed duration Project Management Office (PMO) to design, plan and execute work streams that spanned 20 hospitals, 100+ facilities, a dozen functional areas and over 25,000 employees.  Direct Path worked alongside IU Health team members around the State of Indiana to ensure the transition was a success.   In January 2011, the new IU Health brand was launched - leading to comprehensive operational compliance and enhanced customer experience. 

Process Optimization

The City of Indianapolis was faced with the challenge of a disfunctional code enforcement process that resulted in an extremely poor customer experience and operational inefficiencies. 

Direct Path was engaged to solve this problem.  Our team of process improvement experts combined its practical experience with a Lean Six Sigma approach to assess the issues and make specific recommendations for improvement.  The result was a change from a decentralized to a centralized code enforcement model, better internal reporting, less paperwork, elimination of work backlog, increased visibility to issues, and a 75% reduction in cycle time to process code violations. 

Tax Processing System

The Indiana Department of Revenue (IDOR) was implementing a packaged tax processing system for several of its tax types, and it needed a trusted partner to manage the $6.5M program. 


Direct Path provided project management oversight for the fixed-price outsourced initiative.  Our team ensured the contract vendor completed all deliverables per the requirements, worked with vendor and state resources to resolve all project impediments, managed all scope, issues, risks and changes, and presented monthly updates to the Executive Steering Committee.  The program was successfully implemented on time and within budget.    

ERP Replacement

The Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) needed to replace an antiquated accounting system with a more comprehensive, innovative Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution. 

Direct Path was engaged to lead the initiative, which included strategy, planning, documentation of business and technical requirements, RFP development, vendor selection, program management of the implementation, and organizational change management.  The new software was successfully launched in just 6 months, and IYI has eliminated many manual processes, exponentially improved financial reporting, and instituted better financial controls.
